Godparents?

Question

Question

Tell me about Godparents! Our friend said only one has to be Catholic. My daughter wanted her brother (my son) to be the Godfather but he isn't confirmed. Could he do it anyway if the Godmother is Catholic? They asked me to be the Godmother. I was very flattered, but is that O.K. since I'm the grandmother also?

Answer

Answer

Yes, only one of the godparents needs to be Catholic and fully initiated (baptized, confirmed and having made their first communion). Yes, as the grandmother, you can also be the godparent, assuming you are fully initiated in the Roman Catholic Church.
