Dropped Communion?

Question

Question

In relation to distributing Holy Communion in Hospital/Nursing Homes, what do you do when the consecrated species is dropped or ejected from the mouth by a patient? How do you reverently proceed, while still avoiding any possible embarrassment for the resident? Can you let the species dissolve in water and then pour it into the ground. Are burning or burial outside alternatives?

--Dumbfounded in Denver

Answer

Answer

What you suggest are great options. Since you have a purificator or some type of cloth or tissues, I recommend taking it outside and putting it in the ground if you or the person receiving communion are not able to consume the host.
