No true love unless there are both truth & love

Jesus tells us: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth" (John 14: 15-17).

Oftentimes when we think or talk about God, we think and talk of Love. Indeed, God is Love (cf. 1 John 4: 8, 16) - the Love that "no one has greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13); the Love that heals, especially those who are spiritually needy: "I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners" (Luke 5: 32). How about those who are spiritually sick but have yet to know their realities? The love as such cannot heal, if not indulging the sickness and letting it infect the whole community. The person who is sick as such should be told the truth so that he or she can realize the Love and thus truly be healed. "For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth," said Jesus to Pilate (John 18:37-38), also to the chief priests and the Pharisees at that time, whom he had many times reproved for how hypocritical and superfical they were. There is no true love unless there are both truth and love! To a certain extent, we can experience this true love with the one whom we truly love.

As Christian believers, the indicator that tells how truly we love Jesus is nothing more than keeping His commandments, walking in His way, and being in tune with the Spirit of truth. If we are doing so, we will "always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for (y)our hope" (1 Peter 3:15). If we are doing so, not much preaching effort nor glamorous advertising activities are needed, but naturally will "all the earth cry out to God with joy" (Ps 66:1). Our real life experiences with political or commercial advertisement can tell us how the non-Christians may experience our faith. Shall we - the professed God lovers - let ourselves authentically encounter the Word, again and again let the unclean spirit come out and the Holy Spirit of truth come in?
