Singing during exposition?

Question

Question

--Sung-out in Syracuse

Answer

Answer

Yes, and encouraged! Paragraph 33 of the Order for the Solemn Exposition of the Holy Eucharist states:

The celebrant then goes to the altar and, after placing incense in the censor, kneels and incenses the holy Eucharist. Meanwhile, a suitable song may be sung by the people. A period of silent prayer may also be observed.

Clearly the rite envisions both, but any time some thing is mentioned first in the Roman Rite, this is the preference.
