The Dominican Youth Movement

Today's presentation was by the Dominican Youth Movement, a way for young people to get involved in the dominican charism that is growing in popularity around the world.

As you can imagine, we all had a lot of fun singing and "witnessing" and enjoying each other's company. There were about twenty members present and we started out with some rousing songs. The young man below is Homar Berrospi, eighteen years old.

Brother Luis Enrique Ramirez OP (the first photo) leads the group here in PerĂº. He emceed the evening and introduced a number of speakers, each of whom gave their their own short reflection on what the movement was and what it meant to them.

This is our first speaker, Mirtha Prada Magallanes, twenty seven years old.

As you can tell by this photo... well, it speaks for itself. In the front are brothers Aguero and Carlos Sanchez and in the back Sr. Ana Maria.

At the end of the night, we had had quite the gala affair here at Sto. Domingo, a wedding reception of the son of Emilio (El Veco) Laferranderi, a local TV sportscaster. Tables were set up under the cloister porticos, truckloads of peach and cream roses were brought in, the place was wired for sound and lighting, thirty waiters in white coats and gloves were hired and a banquet was served. In the photo two gentlemen are standing in the middle talking. El Veco is the one on the left.
